Our Standards for Responsible Membership and Leadership

The Sen. Natasha Supporters Network (SNSN) is committed to building a united, respectful, disciplined and responsible organization.

The SNSN Code of Conduct establishes the standards of behaviour expected from all members, leaders, coordinators, volunteers, representatives and anyone officially acting on behalf of the Network.

This Code is intended to promote integrity, respect, accountability, peaceful engagement, responsible communication and service.

Membership of SNSN is a privilege and comes with the responsibility to protect the reputation, unity and objectives of the Network.

1. PURPOSE OF THE CODE

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to:

  • Establish clear standards of behaviour.
  • Promote respect among members.
  • Encourage responsible leadership.
  • Protect the reputation and integrity of SNSN.
  • Promote peaceful and constructive engagement.
  • Encourage responsible use of social media.
  • Prevent harassment, intimidation and abuse.
  • Promote accountability.
  • Provide guidance for resolving conflicts.
  • Encourage members to represent SNSN responsibly.

The Code applies to activities conducted online and offline, including meetings, events, community activities, social media platforms and other situations where a person is representing SNSN.

2. RESPECT FOR OTHERS

Every SNSN member is expected to treat other people with dignity and respect.

Members should:

  • Listen to others.
  • Communicate politely.
  • Respect different opinions.
  • Avoid personal attacks.
  • Avoid insulting or humiliating others.
  • Treat fellow members fairly.
  • Respect guests, partners and members of the public.

Differences of opinion should not become personal conflicts.

Our principle:

Disagree with ideas when necessary, but respect people.

3. INTEGRITY AND HONESTY

SNSN expects members and leaders to act honestly.

Members must not knowingly:

  • Provide false information.
  • Falsify organizational records.
  • Misrepresent their position.
  • Claim an appointment they have not received.
  • Create false organizational announcements.
  • Mislead members or the public.
  • Use SNSN’s name for dishonest purposes.

Honesty is essential to maintaining trust within the Network.

4. REPRESENTING SNSN

Only authorized individuals should speak officially on behalf of SNSN.

Members should not present themselves as:

  • National executives
  • State coordinators
  • LGA coordinators
  • Official spokespersons
  • Authorized representatives

unless they have been formally appointed or authorized to perform that role.

Members should also avoid making statements that could reasonably be interpreted as official SNSN positions unless they are authorized to do so.

5. RESPONSIBLE COMMUNICATION

Members are expected to communicate responsibly.

Before sharing information, members should consider:

Is it accurate?

Is it verified?

Is it appropriate to share?

Could it unnecessarily harm another person?

Members should avoid deliberately spreading:

  • False information
  • Fabricated announcements
  • Unverified allegations
  • Misleading content
  • Harmful rumours
  • Impersonation content

Official information should be obtained through recognized SNSN communication channels.

6. SOCIAL MEDIA CONDUCT

SNSN recognizes the importance of social media in modern communication.

Members are encouraged to use social media positively and responsibly.

When participating in SNSN-related online activities, members should:

  • Respect other users.
  • Avoid abusive language.
  • Avoid harassment.
  • Verify information before sharing.
  • Protect confidential information.
  • Avoid impersonating SNSN officials.
  • Avoid publishing unauthorized internal documents.
  • Avoid deliberately misleading the public.

SNSN-related social media platforms should be used to encourage constructive engagement.

7. NO HARASSMENT OR INTIMIDATION

SNSN does not support harassment, intimidation or bullying.

Members must not engage in conduct intended to threaten, humiliate, intimidate or repeatedly harass another person.

This applies to:

  • Physical interactions
  • Phone calls
  • Text messages
  • Social media
  • Messaging groups
  • Meetings
  • Events
  • Other communication platforms

Concerns should be addressed through appropriate organizational channels.

8. NO HATEFUL OR DISCRIMINATORY CONDUCT

SNSN promotes inclusion and respect.

Members should not use the Network to promote hatred, hostility or discrimination against individuals or groups.

Members are expected to communicate responsibly and avoid content that attacks people based on characteristics such as ethnicity, nationality, disability, gender or other personal characteristics.

9. PEACEFUL ENGAGEMENT

SNSN encourages peaceful and constructive engagement.

Members should resolve disagreements through:

Dialogue → Discussion → Mediation → Appropriate Resolution

Members should not resort to threats, violence, intimidation or other harmful conduct.

10. POLITICAL AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION

Where SNSN activities involve public or political engagement, members must remain within their authorized responsibilities.

Members should:

  • Communicate responsibly.
  • Avoid making unauthorized commitments.
  • Avoid claiming to speak for SNSN without authorization.
  • Respect applicable laws and regulations.
  • Avoid threats or inflammatory conduct.
  • Avoid deliberately misleading statements.

The Network should be represented in a responsible and lawful manner.
